West Virginia Mountain Railroads

Old Logging Lines in Pocahontas County

It's getting routine for me to ride the rails in the Fall. Some years I travel to Colorado and some to West Virginia. This year I returned to Pocahontas County WV to ride the Cass Scenic Railroad and the Durbin & Greenbriar Railroad. This trip was timed almost perfectly---the leaves were turning at lower elevations and at peak on the mountain tops. I hope I captured some of the intense color of the leaves seen from the mountain trains.
The last two pictures are from Pipestem Resort State Park. I made an overnight stop there on the recommendation of a friend. Leave color there was just beginning.
